Mission Statement

My first Appaloosa horse, a 1968 model, was a mare named Indian Miss Dawn.  She was by Chief of Indian Lakes and out of Fourmile Dancer.  She lined back to Cody and Chief of Fourmile.  "Missy" was small..... 14.2..... but what she lacked in size, she made up for in heart.  She taught me a lot about horses; we even went to college together.  She was 30 years old when she died on Veteran's Day, 1998.  Along the way, I acquired some other Appaloosa horses and have started breeding and showing them on a limited basis.  Like most of us, I have a real job and a family, but my psychiatrists are my horses.

Pecan Valley Stables is striving to produce and promote horses that do well in the English venue.  We have had a World Champion Stallion in Suitability, as well as a gelding that qualified for the World in Suitability.  This year we have a yearling filly qualified for the World.  We try to breed to National and World Champions.  Our focus over the next few years is to raise horses that have the conformation and stamina to compete on a National level in English events offered by the Appaloosa Horse Club as well as by the AHSA and the USDF.  We are upgrading our broodmare band to include taller, more athletic Appaloosa mares.  I hope you like what you see on the following pages and hope to hear from each of you.  If you have questions or comments, let me know.  I'm very interested in all Appaloosa enthusiasts!  Hope to hear from you soon.  Linda
